Airtel Tejas Network Contract

According to reports, the company has selected an Indian company Tejas Networks and has signed a contract to expand optical network capacity in key metropolitan markets. Under this agreement, the company will also support, install and supply optical transmission products to Airtel.

Commenting on the historic association, Sanjay Nayak, Managing Director and CEO, Tejas Networks said, “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Airtel. Under this new contract, we will make available our multi terabit TJ1600 DWDM/OTN products to enhance Airtel's Metro network capacity.

Indigenous Tejas Network

Talking about Tejas Network, it is a completely indigenous company, which makes equipment in India itself. An Economic Times report suggests that Tejas Networks has the potential to become a company like India's Huawei, and can grab a significant position in the $150 billion global network gear market. Tejas Networks With the new cycle of investment in 5G and the fiber-based broadband rollout exploring a huge opportunity in the telecom sector in India and the global market, Airtel's tie-up could play an important role for Tejas Networks.

Reports also suggest that Tejas will spend 100% of its product portfolio on locally designing and manufacturing the full stack of wireline and 4G/5G wireless network gear in India. For this, the company will enhance R&D capacity and will also evaluate existing telecom assets. This can be a big positive step in the telecom sector of India. Also an important note is that the Tata group recently acquired a controlling stake in Tejas for Rs 1,890 crore, which also shows confidence in the company.
